IRNA | Abdollah Heidari: The construction of the Middle East’s first and world’s fourth mini-world park is underway in the western Iranian province of Hamadan. A 46-hectare piece of land in Malayer in western Iran is the site where the world’s fourth and Middle East’s first mini-world park is being built. A miniature park is an open space that displays miniature buildings and models, and is usually open to the public. The other world miniature parks include the ones in Japan, Belgium (known as “Mini-Europe”) and China (titled “The Window of the World”). The park has no counterpart in Iran and the Middle East. The Iranian miniature park will incorporate the features used in the design and construction of the “Mini-Europe” in the Belgian capital of Brussels. A total of 138 national (123) and international (15) historical buildings and sites will be reproduced in this project. The reproductions will be 10 times smaller than the original ones.

Financial Tribune – A project to stimulate genetic admixture among the wildlife species in Lashgardar Protected Area in Malayer, Hamedan Province, will be carried out this year to stem a decline in their populations, the head of the Department of Environment said.

Isa Kalantari made the statement in response to a letter by Mohammad Kazemi, a lawmaker representing Malayer in the Parliament, in which he had warned of the loss of wild goat and sheep in the region, DOE’s news portal reported.

“Research teams from the provincial DOE office have scrutinized the lack of growth in the wildlife populations of Lashgardar and identified such issues as consecutive droughts and inbreeding as major causes,” he said.

IRNA – Iran’s representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says that registering Malayer’s grape as FAO’s 53rd agricultural heritage is an important advantage for the country.

“Malayer’s grape production process is Iran’s second registered heritage after the country’s qanat which was registered in 2014,” said Iran’s Permanent Representative to FAO and the Rome Based Agencies Mohammad-Hossein Emadi on Sunday evening.

He expressed hope that another two agricultural heritage from Iran would be registered in FAO by the end of the next Iranian calendar year (beginning on March 21), putting Iran’s name among the world’s five countries with the most FAO registrations.

Emadi pointed to the global climate change, saying that grape production in Malayer is environmentally friendly and can adapt to global warming phenomenon.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that FAO considers economic aspects, tourism attractions, and value added during the registration evaluations and helps countries protect and develop agricultural heritage.

The grape production process and the harvested products in Jowzan area near Malayer city located in Iran’s western province of Hamedan was registered in Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) on December 1.
